How to install Krita

HELLO LINUX ARTISTS!

Why Krita? Well, it’s really great! :)

Installing Krita on your Linux machines is really easy. However one should consider not to use the Software Centers hence they usually provide older Krita packages in the default repositories. For example Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Long Term Support) provides Krita 2.4.x, Ubuntu 12.10 provides Krita 2.5.x and Ubuntu 13.04 provides Krita 2.6.x. Same default repositories are in the other “buntus” and in “mints” (I think!).

So in order to get latest stable version of Krita on your “buntu” use the following in your terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install krita

It’s that easy!
